The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Marion Bobcats, 5-2
(From Fulton) The Railroaders will continue to the final third and championship round of the playoffs after beating back the Bobcats on Saturday. The defeat sends the Bobcats home for the year after finishing last in the regular season but rebounding and advancing one round in post season play. As in 2012, the Railroaders and Hoppers will once again face off for the Post Season Champion title. Fulton will host game one of the best of three series on Monday, July 29..
The Railroaders took a 1-0 lead over the Bobcats in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, Taylor Douglas scored from third off a RBI single by Cody Burton.
Top of the fourth inning, the Bobcats used a Railroaders error and a homerun from Jarrett Rice for two RBI to take a 2-1 lead.
Fulton tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth when Matt Skrzpiec walked, advanced to third and scored as Kyle Simmons reached on a fielder's choice with a force out at second. The Railroaders put up two more in the seventh with a RBI double by Ramon Valdez and a Hunter Owen RBI single. Cody Burton added his second RBI in the eighth to complete the final 5-2 score..
Fulton starter John Lollar pitched for six innings leaving the game tied at two. Lollar allowed only one earned run, one walk and struck out seven. Jake Shadix gets the win pitching two innings giving up two hits, no runs or walks, and issued three strikeouts. Caleb Shelly takes a save for finishing the ninth, and struck out two of the three batters faced.
Marion starter Trevor Guthrie threw for 4 innings leaving the Bobcats with a one run lead. Luke MacDonald completed the last four innings and is tagged for the loss allowing four earned runs from the mound.
