The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Madisonville Miners, 2-0

(From Owensboro)  The Owensboro Oilers edged a home shutout win Friday night over the visiting Madisonville Miners. The final score was 2 to 0 for the home team.
     The game was a pitching duel, as both Owensboro starter Brandon Jean and Miners starter Tanner Koch frustrated the offenses. The Oilers finally opened the scoring in the bottom of the 7th inning. Braxton Brinkley led off the home frame by reaching on an error. A sacrifice bunt moved him over to second base. A strikeout later, Cable Wright delivered a clutch RBI single to plate Brinkley.    
     Owensboro added one insurance run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Christian McHatton led off with a double. He was sacrifice bunted over to third base. Taylor Sears was intentionally walked, then lifted for pinch-runner Tyler Adams. Adams stole second base while McHatton held third base. Taylor Mathews was hit by a pitch to load the bases. McHatton scored on a RBI sacrifice fly by Brinkley.
     Pitching dominated the night. Jean collected the win, going 7 innings and scattering five of the Miners six hits while striking out 6. Oilers reliever Mark Chemello continued steady set-up work and Cameron Wallace closed with a perfect 9th inning for a save, striking out the side. Koch suffered the Miners loss, in spite of surrendering just two hits over 6.67 innings.
