The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 3-1

(From Hopkinsville)  Four Hoptown pitchers combined for a two-hitter in the Hoppers' 3-1 win over Fulton on Thursday, but it was not exactly a defensive gem. In the seventh and eighth innings, Hoppers pitchers faced bases-loaded situations with no outs through four walks, a hit batter and a fielding error.
Leading 3-0 in the top of the seventh, Hoptown pitcher Heath Petty hit Reed Johnson on a 3-0 pitch, then walked Zach Bailey. Ryan Mossman then came in to pitch for the Hoppers and walked Jeremiah Spring to load the bases with no outs. Mossman was able to coax a strikeout from Riley Benner, a flyout from Tyler Hardin and a strikeout from Dylan Rajkovich to get out of the jam unscathed.
In the top of the eighth, Mossman walked Troy Squires and Tyler Marshall to start the inning. Greg Fettes reached on an error to load the bases with no outs, and Mossman gave way to Trevor Blocker. Blocker got Johnson to hit into a double play, scoring Squires, and got Zach Bailey to strike out to get out of another potential threat.
Hoptown (16-5) scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning when Ben Rodriguez drew a one-out walk and Chris Carrier singled him to second. A pickoff attempt went past the first baseman, scoring Rodriguez and putting Carrier on third. Scotty Adkins singled in Carrier, went to second when Matthew Alford was hit by a pitch and scored on a fielding error to give the Hoppers a 3-0 lead.
Hoptown was led by Carrier, who went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Greg Fettes had a double for Fulton (9-11), the only extra-base hit of the game.
On the mound, starter Parker Cash (2-0) got the win, allowing no runs on two hits, striking out two and walking one in five innings. Petty came on in the sixth, allowing no runs on no hits, walking two in one-plus innings. Mossman entered in the seventh, allowing one unearned run on no hits, striking out two and walking three in one-plus inning, and Blocker got his fourth save of the season, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out two in two innings.
For Fulton, starter Dylan Smith (2-2) took the loss, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking two in four innings. Cory Main came on in the fifth, allowing no runs on one hit, striking out three and walking two in three innings, and Clay Chandler pitched the eighth inning, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out two.
