The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 6-3
(From Fulton) The Railroaders won their fourth game in a row and handed the first place Oilers a second straight loss. Owensboro remains at the top in the standing and 2 1/2 games ahead of idle Hopkinsville. Fulton pick up one game and now stand 6 games back with 11 games left in the regular season.
The Railroaders scored first with 2 runs in the 2nd inning. Reed Johnson reached base hit-by-pitch then scored off a RBI triple by Dylan Rajkovich. Rajkovich scored on a fielder's choice to give Fulton a 2-0 lead. Bottom of the 5th, the Railroaders put up 2 more from a 2 RBI single by Johnson with men on 2nd and 3rd.
Trailing 4-0, the Oilers closed to within one run scoring 3 runs in the top of the 6th inning. A Jake Willson RBI single drove Alferdo Bohorques home who had reached hit-by-pitch. Wilson and Justin Cessna (who singled) both scored off a Braxton Brinkley 2 RBI double.
Fulton's final 2 runs came in the bottom of the 7th inning with no hits. One Oilers error, a balk and passed ball gave the Railroaders the additional unearned runs for the final 6-3 score..
The Railroaders totaled 7 hits, had one error and stranded 10 men on base. The Oilers had 8 hits, committed 2 errors and left 7 runners out on base.
Pitcher Jake Bauer gets the win starting and going 5 1/3 innings giving up 5 hits, 3 earned runs, one walk and had 8 strikeouts. Clay Chandler picked up a save with 3 2/3 innings pitched with no runs, one walk and 3 strikeouts. Taking the loss for Owensboro was starter Cable Wright for 4 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits, 3 earned runs, 4 walks and struck out one.
