The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Madisonville Miners, 5-4

(From Owensboro)  The Owensboro Oilers won their Wednesday night game against the visiting Madisonville Miners. The game actually had to be played away from Kamuf Park because of Monday storm damage there. The baseball confines at nearby Apollo High School were an appreciated stand-by. The final score of the game was Oilers 5 to Miners 4.
Madisonville opened the scoring with  three runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Rutger Luebke singled. A groundout later, Adam Schuster singled and Luebke moved on to third base. Nick Calandra followed by reaching on a RBI fielder's choice that put Schuster out at second base, but plated Luebke when a throw to first base for a double play went wide instead -- putting Calandra on second base. Cory Finkler RBI doubled to score Calandra. Jackson Martin RBI singled to bring in Finkler. At the end of the frame the Miners led 3 to 0.
Owensboro responded with one run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. With one away, Justin Cessna walked,  Tyler Adams followed with a double, posting Cessna ahead at third base. Tyler Rachel delivered an RBI groundout to score Cessna. After three complete innings the score was 3 to 1 in visiting favor.
Madisonville took a turn to score one run in the top of the 6th inning. Martin led off the Miners 6th with a double. Martin came in on a one-out RBI single from Isaac Perry. The Madisonville lead was now 4 to 1.
The Oilers took their 6th inning turn to score three times. Jake Wilson led off with a single. He was still there an out later when Braxton Brinkley singled, putting runners on the first two bases. Harold Diaz followed and reached on a two-base error that brought both Wilson and Brinkley in to score. An out later, Adams doubled again to drive in Diaz. The scoring had flipped into balance, and after six complete the game was tied 4 to 4.
Owensboro scratched across the go-ahead tally in the bottom of the 8th inning. Rachel reached on an error, then gave way to pinch-runner Cameron Wallace. Brinkley sacrifice bunted Wallace along to second base. A groundout got Wallace over to third base. With two outs, Dalton West flared a RBI single into right field and Wallace scored.
Madisonville faced their last at-bat trailing for the first time all game. A walk between two strikeouts and a final groundout did not overcome the sudden deficit. The game ended 5 to 4 in Owensboro's advantage.
The winning pitcher was Owensboro reliever Jordan Kesson, who struck out eight batters over five innings of relief. The losing pitcher was Madisonville reliever Colton Nussel.

Johnathan Williams gets credit for the win and Jacob Murray earns a save.  Trevor Blocker takes the loss for the Hoppers who fall to 17-12.
