The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Madisonville Miners, 7-6

(From Fulton)  In an overall ugly defensive game for both teams, the Railroaders escape with a win over the beleaguer Miners in Fulton. Seven of the total thirteen runs scored in the game were unearned.  The Railroaders committed 7 errors followed by the Miners with a total of 5.  Fulton had 11 hits and stranded 10 runners while Madisonville only got 4 hits with 11 men left on base.  

     The Miners lead off the game scoring one run in the 1st inning off a Cory Finkler RBI double driving in Adam Schuster who reached hit by a pitch. The Railroaders answered in the bottom half of the innings with 3 runs.  Dayton Rausch reached base on the first Miner error, Conner Hill followed and was hit by a pitch, and Tyler Marshall walked to load the bases.  With one out, Riley Benner walked for an RBI, then with a second out Tyler Hardin singled for 2 RBI.

     The Railroaders added 2 more runs in the 3rd scoring off two Miner errors including a second bases loaded walk-in RBI.  The score now stood 5-1 in Fulton's favor.

     Top of the 4th inning the Railroaders began their mistakes in the field of play allowing 3 Miners to score with no hits, a defense interference call and 4 total errors.  The only RBI came from a Michael Colorado sac fly.  Bottom half of the inning the Railroaders came back and managed to score one run using 3 hits. 

     Both teams remained scoreless until the 7th when the Railroaders earned another run off a Jeremiah Spring RBI double that was aided by a fourth Miner error.  The score now showed 7-4 on Fulton's side.

     The Miners bounced back in the 8th to close the gap to one and complete the scoring with 2 runs.  Ian Burkhart lead off with a walk following by a bunt single by Michael Colorado.  Both men scored from a Nick Calandra RBI ground out and a Cory Finkler RBI single.

     Fulton sent in closer Keaton Baker to finish off the 9th and end the game. Baker picked up a save striking out two and fielding his own a ground out.  Starter Justin Vernia gets the win for 5 innings pitched allowing only one hit, tagged for 4 runs (one earned), 3 walks and had 9 strikeouts. Miners starter Mike Steele takes the loss for 2 2/3 innings of work giving up 2 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 4 walks and with one strikeout.
