The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 6-2
(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers lost their Sunday night home game hosting the Fulton Railroaders. The final score was Fulton 6 to Owensboro 2.
The Railroaders scored one run in the top of the 3rd inning. Trevor Hicks led off with a single. Zach Bailey walked. Both runners were sacrificed over one base. Riley Benner walked to load the bases. A strikeout later, Dylan Rausch reached on an error that allowed Hicks to score.
The game tilted securely away from home control when Fulton translated five hits and one defensive error into five runs in the top of the 5th inning. With one out, Troy Squires singled. Benner reached on a defensive error, advancing Squires to second base. Reed Johnson singled, loading the bases. A wild pitch scored Squires, and moved the other runners ahead. Rausch RBI singled to bring in Benner while Johnson moved to third base. Jeremiah Spring RBI singled, driving in Johnson, and Rausch moved to third base. Spring stole second base as Rausch held pat before a Dylan Rajkovich 2-RBI single scored both Spring and Rausch. The five-spot put the Oilers behind their guests by a 6 to 0 score.
The Oilers scored both runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. Tyler Rachel led off with a single. Tyler Adams was hit by a pitch. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. Rachel and Adams were both driven across on a 2-RBI single by Austin Bartle. At the end of seven complete innings the score was 6 to 2 for Fulton. That gap held up through nine innings as final.
The winning pitcher was Fulton starter Cory Main. The Oilers brought a potential tying run on deck in the bottom of the 9th, so Tyler Nichols earned a save. The losing pitcher was Oilers starter Jake Wilson.
