The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 4-0

(From Fulton)  The Railroaders shutout the Hoppers in Fulton to take second place in the standings and complete the regular 2014 season schedule for the OVL.  The game saw both teams matching with five hits and one error each.  

     Fulton took a one run lead in the 2nd inning.  Conner Hill singled and advance to 2nd base after Riley Benner was hit by a pitch.  Trevor Hicks following with a RBI double to drive in Hill.

     Bottom of the 3rd the Railroaders put up 3 more runs.  Daniel Goff doubled with two men on base to score 2 RBI.  Goff then made home on a Hoppers throwing error.  Scoring remained silent for the rest of game.

     Parker Cash was best on offensive for Hoptown going 2 for 3 at the plate.

     Railroaders starter Jake Bauer gets the win on the mound going for 7 innings giving up 4 hits, walking one batter and striking out 6 men.  Clay Chandler completed the final two innings for Fulton.

     Hoptown starting pitcher Dylan Stewart takes the loss for 6 innings of work allowing all Railroader hits, 4 runs (3 earned), walked 4 and had 6 strikeouts.  Taylor Blair and Geordie Carlson each threw for one inning downing every batter they faced.

     Both teams move on together to begin playing in the second round in the post season playoffs.  Thursday the teams will play in Hopkinsville for the first game in the best of three series.  Game two will be in Fulton on Friday and Saturday if needed to complete the series.
