The Madisonville Miners defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 6-5

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers lost their Friday night home game to the visiting Madisonville Miners. Though the Oilers had once led the game by a 3-0 score, the Miners put together one big inning, then held on to win by the score of 6 to 5.
     The Oilers scored one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. With two away, Tyler Tichenor singled, then moved to second base as Aaron King walked. Ty Broady followed by reaching on a two-base error that allowed Tichenor to score. Owensboro pushed out to a a 3-0 advantage with two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Broady led off that home inning by reaching safely on a dropped third strike which got past the catcher. One out later Daniel McFarland was hit by a pitch, moving Broady to second base. With two out, an infield single by Mark VanDenlangerberg loaded the bases. A 2-RBI single off the bat of Ben Rhodes scored Broady and McFarland before VanDenlangerberg was cut trying to take third base.
     Madisonville overtook the lead with all six runs in the top of the 8th inning. Tyler Greiner walked. Matt Walsh was hit by a pitch, and both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. Wesley Birchmier walked to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Corey Finkler RBI singled to score Greiner. Pinch-hitter Connor Moss RBI singled in the infield, scoring Walsh, Carlton Peppers reached on a fielder's choice used to force Birchmier out at the plate. Addison Rospert reached on a two base error that plated both Finkler and Moss. Nolan Ramsey was intentionally walked to reload the bases. Brooks Benson RBI singled, bringing in Peppers. Greiner returned to the plate for an RBI sacrifice fly, scoring Rossport before a fly out ended the frame.
     Owensboro rallied for two of the three runs it needed in the bottom of the 9th inning. Rhodes led off with a single, then Alfredo Bohorques reached on an error. With one out, both runners advanced a base on a balk. King followed with an RBI groundout to plate Rhodes. Oiler newcomer Mario Tursi, batting for an injured Broady, RBI singled, scoring Bohorques. Long-awaited Oiler arrival Braxton Morris followed with a single. A wild pitch put the potential tying run at third base and the potential winning run at second base. Austin Bartle walked to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Conner McHugh grounded sharply into a fielder's choice used to force Bartle out at second base. So the game goes sometimes ... alas, so the game goes.
     The loss spoiled six innings of 1-hit shutout baseball from Oilers starter Charlie Dishman. Instead, the loss falls to Owensboro reliever Ryan Flores.
     Madisonville reliever Colin Hudson pitched the bottom of the 7th inning, and was still the pitcher of record when Madisonville took over the lead in the to of the 8th inning. He gets the win. Madisonville reliever Matt Peacock earns a save.
