The Madisonville Miners defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 5-3
(From Fulton) The Madisonville Miners ((6-5) used early and well-timed hits to beat the home-standing Fulton Railroaders (7-6) to extend their winning steak to 5 games. The Miners move into second place by percentage points over the Railroaders with both teams now 2 games behind the Bombers.
For the Miners Carlton Peppers was 3-for-5,and began the game with a lead-off double and made third on a Connor Moss single who was also 3-for-5 on the evening. Cory Finkler drove Peppers home with a sacrifice fly.
The Railroaders answered in the bottom of the first with a Griffin Neuer lead-off with a solo home run, the first of three Fulton homers on the evening.
Madisonville quickly regained the lead in the second inning scoring 2 runs from a Gabe Franklin RBI fielder's choice plus a RBI double by Carlton Peppers, his second 2B.
The Miners widened their led in the fourth. Matt Walsh doubled and made home on a Fulton throwing error. JD Minor singled advance on the error and scored on a Connor Moss bunt RBI single to bring the score to 5-1 Miners.
The Railroaders added their final runs with a lead-off home run by Brad Baldwin in the eighth, and another solo homer in the ninth by Clayton Connor.
Kyle Vedrode takes the win for the Miners going 5 innings allowing 5 hits, one earned run, a walk and had 3 strikeouts. Mathias Brewers, Jake Gill and Matt Peacock combined in middle relief for 3 1/3 innings. Nicholas Purpera picks up a save for the final 2/3 inning of work.
The loss goes to Railroaders starter Logan Parrett who struggled for one and a 1/3 innings before being pulled; giving up 4 hits, one walk and 3 earned runs. Trey Tigart, Eddie Mathis and Lucas Eliason teamed together to complete game with only Tigart getting tagged for 2 unearned runs.
