The Dubois County Bombers defeated the Madisonville Miners, 7-4
(From Fulton) The Bombers (10-4) and Railroaders (7-7) scuffled hard as the Bombers finally held on to win by one run and extend their winning steak to six games. Defensive miscues by both teams added to the drama.
Fulton jumped to a 1-0 lead in the first inning with an unearned run off the first Bomber error.
In the top of fourth the Bombers took a 3-1 lead from a Greg Jones homerun with two runners aboard due to 2 Railroader errors in the inning.
Fulton tied the game 3-3 in bottom half of the fourth with lead off single followed by a 2 RBI homer for Colton Aldridge.
The Bombers responded top of the fifth, in kind, with a lead off single and an immediate 2 RBI homer by Daniel Johnson. The Bombers added their final run in the seventh to make the score 6-3.
The Railroaders scratched back scoring one run using a second Bomber error in the eighth. In the bottom of the ninth, Brad Baldwin lead off with a solo homerun to draw Fulton within a run. With 2 outs and walked tying run aboard, pop out to short ended the game.
At the plate for DC; Greg Jones was most productive with his 1-for-5 and 3 RBI homerun, along with Daniel Johnson who was 2-for-5 with his 2 RBI homerun and 2 scores
For Fulton; Colton Aldridge lead the effort going 1-for-3, his 2 RBI homerun and 2 scores, followed by Brad Baldwin who was 4-for-5 an RBI and one score.
Starter Zachary Aring gets the win for 5 1/3 innings pitched. He allowed 6 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and had 5 strikeouts. Willie Poe went for 2 2/3 innings and was hit 4 times with 2 runs (one earned), a walk and 3 strikeouts. Nicholas Scheller earned save pitching the final 3 outs and walking only one batter.
The loss goes to Dillon Symon with 5 innings of work giving up 5 hits, 5 runs (3 earned), issued 3 walks and one strikeout. Charlie Hecht pitched for one inning, 2 hits, one unearned run and a strikeout. Kyle Ward completed the final 3 innings allowing only one hit, no runs scored and struck out 5 batters.
The Railroaders fall to 7-7 and 3 games behind DC. The Bombers remain on top in the standings at 10-4 with the Miners in second 2 1/2 games back.
