The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 14-8

(From Fulton) The Railroaders steamed past an early Hoptown lead to win big in Fulton. Both teams combined to produce 22 hits, which included 4 homeruns that scored 11 runs.

     After a scoreless first inning, the Hoppers took the early lead in the second when Kyle Hubbuch parked a 2 RBI homer over right field's Little Monster. The Railroaders answered with one run in the bottom half of the inning from a Lucas Eliason RBI single.

     In the bottom of the third, the Railroaders throttled up with 5 hits. After loading the bases and one out, veteran Roman Valdez blasted a grand slam over Little Monster. Loading the bases again with a single and two walks, the Railroaders scored 2 more runs on a double error play to take a 7-2 lead.

     The fourth inning for the Hoppers was snapshot of their second inning scoring. With a runner aboard Kyle Hubbich came to the plate and knocked his second 2 RBI homer over Little Monster, cutting Fulton's lead down to 3 runs.

     Bottom of the fourth the Railroaders rolled out more 4 RBI using 4 singles and an RBI groundout to take a commanding 11-4 lead.

     The Hoppers rallied in the sixth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Hunter Losekamp was hit by a pitch for a RBI.  Ernie de la Trinidad followed with a 2 RBI single to make the score to 11-7 still in Fulton's favor.

     The Railroaders waited until the seventh inning to answer Hoptown's last score. After an error and a single put two men on, Kyle Uhrich blasted a 3 RBI homerun over center field to give Fulton a 14-7 lead.

     Hoptown managed their final score in the ninth from two singles, a walk and a ground out RBI.

     Five Railroaders had multiple hits on the evening; Kyle Uhrich went 3-for-5 scoring 3 runs along with his 3 RBI homerun, Griffin Neuer was 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored, Clay Reece went 2-for-5 and 2 runs scored, Drew Greenwood was 2-for-4 with one score and a RBI, Lucas Eliason was 2-for-4 and 2 RBI, and Ramon Valdez 1-for-2 with 3 runs scored and his grand slam for 4 RBI.

     Hoptown was lead by Kyle Hubbuch who was 2-for-4, both hits homers for 4 RBI. Matt Dunlevy went 2-for-2 and one run scored. Both Cody Duncan (3 runs scored) and Matt Cogen got stand up doubles.

     Fulton's starter Chandler Amason gets the win with 5 2/3 innings pitched. He allowed 4 hits, 7 earned runs, 2 walks and had 2 strikeouts. Logan Parrett threw for 2 1/3 innings, no runs, one walk and a strikeout. Kyle Ward pitched the final inning with 2 hits, one earned run, one walk and strikeout.

     Hopkinsville's starter Will Bishop takes the loss. He went 3 innings giving up 7 hits, 7 runs (5 earned), 3 walks and had 2 strikeouts. Dylan Givens pitched 3 1/3 innings for 8 hits, 7 runs (6 earned) and 2 walks.  Drake O'Bryant completed the final 1 2/3 innings with no hits, runs or walks and struck out 4 batters.

     The Railroaders (19-13) remain in second place 2 1/2 games behind the Bombers (22-11) who beat the Miners (17-14) on the night. The Hoppers (12-19) stay in fourth position 9 games out of first. The Oilers (9-22) were idle for the evening.
