The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 5-4

(From Fulton) The Railroaders (24-14) used four long balls and a walk-off RBI single to sweep the  doubleheader over the Hoppers (14-22) in Fulton. The double win moved Fulton to within a half game of the leading Bombers who lost to the Miners on the same night.

     Game 1: The Railroaders took the first lead in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs and nobody on base, Kipp Moore hit a solo homerun for the 1-0 lead.

     The Hoppers responded in the third.. Jimmy Cubillos and Ernie de la Trinidad both singled and stole bases to get into scoring position with one out. Matt Cogen then singled for 2 RBI to give Hoptown a 2-1 lead.

     Top of the fourth inning the Hoppers added another run. Jimmy Cubillos singled for a RBI driving in a runner from third.

     In the bottom half of the fourth and two outs, the Railroaders got two men aboard with Ramon Valdez walked and a Kipp Moore singled. Tyler Hilton came to bat and hit a 3 RBI homer giving the lead back to Fulton 4-3.

     The top of the seventh and final inning, Ernie de la Trinidad doubled with one out. Matt Cogen followed with a RBI single scoring Trinidad and tied at 4-4. 

     Bottom of the seventh the Railroaders got a one out walk for Brad Baldwin who moved to third with Kyle Uhrich followed with a single. Ramon Valdez was next and promptly hit a ground ball single for the game winnings RBI.

     For Fulton, Kipp Moore was 2-for-2 with, 2 runs scored and the solo homerun. Tyler Hilton went 2-for-3, one run scored with his 3 RBI homer.

     Matt Cogen was best for Hoptown going 4-for-4 with 3 RBI. Ernie de la Trinidad was 2-for-4 and 2 runs scored, and Jimmy Cubillos went 2-for-3, one RBI and one score.

     Charlie Hecht picked up his 5th win with a complete 7 inning game pitched. He gave up 8 hits, 4 runs (3 earned), walked 3 and struck out 5 batters.

     Taking the loss was reliever Kyle Hubbuch who pitched only 1/3 of an inning giving up the winning run that broke the tie. Hoptown starter Drake O'Bryant threw for 3 2/3 innings allowing 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 4 walks and striking out 3 batters. Parker Cash in middle relief for 2 1/3 innings gave up only one hit, one walk and had one strikeout.
