The Fulton Railroaders defeat the Paducah Chiefs, 9-5

(From Fulton) The Railroaders came from behind to overtake and beat the Chiefs in Fulton. After four and a half innings of play, the Railroaders could only muster one run and trailed the Chiefs by four. In the bottom half of the fifth inning, Fulton used 3 hits, 4 walks, a hit batter and one Chiefs' error to put up six runs and take a 7-5 lead. The Railroaders scored two more runs in the sixth to complete the final 9-5 victory.

Fulton was slow getting started and seems sluggish at the plate through the first four innings before finally taking advantage of walks and miscues by Paducah. The Railroaders totaled 8 hits in the game, all singles, with 7 RBI and 11 walks. There were 13 runners stranded on base.

Paducah out preformed the Railroaders at the plate with 9 hits that included one solo homerun, a triple and one double. Their RBI total accounted for all 5 runs scored. The Chiefs were aggressive in their base running, but good defense by the Railroaders held several plays in check and helped shut down Paducah's scoring through the final four innings of play.

Hunter Smith takes the win for Fulton throwing for the first six innings and the pitcher of record when the Railroaders took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. He gave up 8 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 walks and had 10 strikeouts. Matt Meihls and Cameron Curry together completed the final three scoreless innings.

Chiefs starter Michael Klayer threw for 4 innings before leaving the game in bottom of the fifth and responsible for 5 earned runs tying the score with Fulton. Reliever Noah Pierce came in for one and 1/3 innings and gave up the go ahead run to take the loss for Paducah.
