The Owensboro Oilers defeat the Muhlenberg County Stallions, 7-4

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers continued a successful opening home stand, defeating first-time visiting Muhlenberg County Stallions by the final score of 7 to 4.

The Oilers scored two runs each in the bottoms of the 1st, 3rd, and 4th innings; and added one run in the bottom of the 7th inning. Scoring for Owensboro were: Bryce Windham, Seth Woodard, Tanner Kerher, Sam Medina (2), Hector Marmal, and Caleb Spears. RBIs for Owensboro belonged to:Woodard, Medina (3), and Nick Lugo (2).

The Stallions trailed 6-0 through four complete innings before rallying for three of their runs in the top of the 5th inning. Muhlenberg Co. added their only other run in the top of the 8th inning. Scoring for Muhlenberg Co. were: Jamie Valvano, Nigel Williams, Justin Ware, and Will Broady. RBIs for Muhlenberg Co. belonged to: Valvano (2 -- a 2-run HR), JD Roberts, and Broady.

Oilers starter Adam Schmitt was the winning pitcher, Owensboro reliever Ryan Hundley got his second save in as many nights. Both were part of an effective quartet of Owensboro pitching.

Stallions starter Grant Wallace took the loss.
