The Owensboro Oilers defeat the Paducah Chiefs, 9-3

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers made it a 3-win opening home stand, defeating the first-time visiting Paducah Chiefs on Wednesday night by the final score of 9 to 3.

The Oilers scored four runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning: Hector Marmal, Joe Stucky, Joe Silva, and Seth Woodard; RBIs for Bryce Windham and Mitch Wilson (2). Owensboro added one run in the bottom of the 5th inning: Silva. The home team scored three more runs in the bottom of the 6th inning: Julian Alverio, Tanner Kerher, and Mitch Wilson; RBIs for James Parker (3 -- triple). The Oilers scored one more run in the bottom of the 7th inning: Silva; RBI for Alverio.

The Chiefs scored one run in the top of the 7th inning: Nathan Williams; RBI for Davis Elliot. Paducah added two more runs in the top of the 8th inning: Davis Sims and Jason Priest; RBI for Sims (solo home run).

Owensboro starter Austin Morgan won, giving up just one hit in six innings of work, while striking out eight against five walks.

Paducah starter Dakota Head lost, completing just two innings while giving up four runs on five hits. Only one of those four runs was earned, as the Chiefs committed four defensive errors for the game.
