The Owensboro Oilers defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 8-5

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers won the Saturday night home game playing the Fulton Railroaders. The final score was Fulton 5 to Owensboro 8.

The Railroaders scored first and last, plating three runs in the top of the 2nd inning and two runs in the top of the 9th inning. In the top of the 2nd inning Alex Phillips was hit by a pitch, Mac Edwards walked, and Cameron Curry was also hit by a pitch -- all with two outs --to load the bases. Alex Smith drove them all in on a 3-RBI single. That was all for Fulton until the top of the the 9th. In that half inning Andrew Holderman reached on catcher's interference, Curry reached on fielder's choice that put Holderman out, and an errant throw back to first base sent Curry on to second base. One more out later, consecutive walks to Kyle Beach and Chase Slone loaded the bases. Pinch-hitter Zach Bishop batted in Curry and Beach. A fly ball to left field ended the visitor rally and the game.

The Oilers, down 3-0 at one point, gradually found steady offensive stride to take over the game. Owensboro scored one run each in the bottoms of the 2nd,, 5th, 7th, and 8th innings. The big inning for the Oilers was the four-run bottom of the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 2nd inning Nick Lugo reached on an error and eventually scored on a Joe Stucky RBI sacrifice fly. In the home 4th inning Hector Marmal singled, and Seth Woodard walked. A pop out later, Joe Silva was hit by a pitch which loaded the bases. Bryce Windham followed with an RBI walk, plating Marmal. A fly out later, Tanner Kerher hit a 2-RBI single to score Woodard and Silva, Windham moved to third base and Kerher went to second base on the throw. A wild pitch allowed Windham to come in and put Kerher at third base before the inning closed with the home team now leading 5 to 3. In the bottom of the 5th inning Nick Lugo led off with a double and scored on a RBI double by Woodard. The bottom of the 7th inning saw Ben Haefner hit by a pitch, and moved to second base by a Lugo single, Consecutive fielder's choices brought Haefner in to score, with Woodard again collecting the RBI. In the bottom of the 8th inning, Joe Silva capped the Owensboro scoring with a solo RBI home run. The Oilers flipped an 0-3 deficit to an 8-3 advantage going into the 9th inning, then secured the 8-5 final.

The winning pitcher was Owensboro starter Aaryn Chandler. Fulton starter Tyler Magley took the loss.
