The Hoptown Hoppers defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 8-2

(From Hopkinsville) The Hoppers improve their record to 9-1 after defeating the visiting Railroaders in Hopkinsville tonight. Hopkinsville scored 8 runs on 8 hits with 3 errors. The Railroaders scored 2 runs on 5 hits with 2 errors to drop their record to 4-7. Starting pitcher Casey Queener improved his record to 3-0 striking out 10 batters with no walks and giving up 5 hits through 8 complete innings of work. Austin Hearn came in to close out the 9th inning. Matt Meihls was the losing pitcher for the Railroaders dropping his record to 1-1. Meihls gave up 6 runs on 5 hits with 5 of those runs being earned.

Hunter Holland led the hitting for the hoppers with 2 hits, both of them doubles with 2 RBIs. Grant Robbins led the team in RBIs with 3 on one hit. Chase Schmittou also contributed with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Contributing to the Hoppers offense tonight was the fact that starting Railroader pitcher Matt Meihls hit 6 batters with Andrew Gross being on the receiving end of 3 of those.

The Hoppers head to Muehlenberg County tomorrow night for a double header and the Railroaders head to Madisonville to face the Miners.
