The Hoptown Hoppers defeat the Dubois County Bombers, 7-4

(From Hopkinsville) The Hoppers (14-1) win game 1 of a double-header against the Bombers (10-4) in extra innings with a game-ending walk off 3 run home run by Kyle O'Keefe in the bottom of the 8th. Gavin Alvarez pitched the final 2 innings of the game picking up his second win of the season. He retired all six batters he faced. Brian Wichman pitched the final inning of the game for Dubois County. The inning started off with a ground out and then a strike out. With two outs, Hunter Holland beat out the throw on a ground ball in the infield. Wendell Champion, the next batter reached 1st on a hard hit single to right field. With 2 runners on, Kyle O'Keefe came to bat and with a 3-1 count launched a ball over the left field wall to end the game with a final score of 7-4.
The game started out as a pitcher's duel with Chase Maddux (1-1) pitching 6 innings and giving up 4 runs in the top of the 4th inning, but only giving up 1 earned run. The Hoppers responded in the bottom of the 4th with a 3 run home run by Hunter Holland after a double by Chase Schmittou and a walk by Andrew Gross. Holland went 2-4 on the night after an impressive 4-5 the night before in Owensboro.
The Hoppers tied the game in the bottom of the 4th after a double by Matt Dudas followed by a double by Alonte Wingate to drive him in. Ian Dimitrie (2-0) pitched 4 1/3 innings giving up 4 runs. Both starting pitchers ended up with a no-decision.
