The Paducah Chiefs defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 6-5
(From Fulton) The Chiefs held off a ninth inning rally by the Railroaders to win in Fulton on Thursday. Paducah totaled 9 hits and had 2 errors, Fulton had 10 hits with one error. Both teams now stand with 9-16 records.
The Railroaders held a 1-0 lead after the first inning. The Chiefs tied the game in the third and went ahead in the fourth scoring one run to take a 2-1 lead. Paducah added 2 more runs in sixth and another 2 runs in the seventh for 6-1 lead. Fulton answered in the bottom of the seventh with 2 scores. Still trailing by 3 runs in the bottom of the ninth, the Railroaders put up 2 more runs and then loaded the bases with 2 outs. A force out at second base on a ground ball ended the game.
Davis Sims, 2-for-3, hit a solo homerun for Paducah and also had a double. Davis Elliott also doubled and scored one run. Peyton Sockwell produced a 2 RBI single in the winning effort.
All of Fulton's scores came from three homeruns; one by Chase Slone, Andrew Swanson and Chris Patterson each had 2 RBI shots.
Starting pitcher Lee Chandler gets the win for 6 innings work giving up 5 hits, one earned run, 7 walks and 3 strikeouts. Clay Newton and Josh Wetzel pitched in middle relief. Daniel Seitzinger picked up a save completing the final inning.
Teagan Lind takes the loss with 6 1/3 innings on the mound. He allowed 8 hits, 6 runs (5 earned), 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts. Alex Smith and Kyle Beach completed the game for Fulton.
