The Fulton Railroaders defeat the Muhlenberg County Stallions, 6-4
(From Fulton) The homestanding Railroaders held on to beat the Stallions and move up in the standings by a game over the Chiefs after they lost to the Hoppers on the same night. Three unearned runs help secure the Railroader win over the Stallions who committed 4 errors. One of three Fulton errors handed Muhlenberg on unearned run.
The Stallions scored first with one run in the 2nd inning using a walked batter, sacrifice bunt and a RBI single by Justin Ware.
The Railroaders tied the game in the 4th inning with a leadoff two base throwing error putting a runner on second who then made third base on a ground ground. Andrew Holderman hit a sacrificed fly to give Fulton their first run.
Bottom of the 5th inning with two outs, back to back doubles by Chase Slone and Andrew Swanson gave the Railroaders a 2-1 lead.
Fulton put up 4 more runs in the 7th inning. After a leadoff walk and error put two men aboard followed by a sacrifice bunt, Paul Salata hit a 2 RBI single. The next batter Andrew Holderman promptly shot a 2 RBI homerun over right field's "Little Monster" to give the Railroaders a 6-1 lead.
The Stallions answered in the 8th inning with one run. JD Roberts lead off with a double, made third on a ground out then scored off a Seth Richardson sacrifice fly.
The final threat by the Stallions came in the 9th when two runners got aboard on an error and a walk made home off a Kyle Howard 2 RBI single. A line drive out ended the game with Muhlenberg leaving the the tying runs on base.
Starter Matt Meihls gets the win for Fulton for 7 2/3 innings pitched giving up 6 hits, 2 earned runs, 5 walks and had 3 strikeouts. Hunter Smith completed the final 1 1/3 innings allowing 2 hits, 2 runs (one earned), one walk and strikeout.
Taking the loss for Muhlenberg was Starter Max Hall for 5 innings, tagged for 2 runs (one earned), 2 each walks and strikeouts. Nick Watkins threw for 1 1/3 innings giving up 4 hits, 4 runs (2 earned), 2 each walks and strikeouts. Corey Mason completed the final 1 2/3 innings with no hits, runs, walks and had one strikeout.
