Hoptown Hoppers Grabs Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Owensboro RiverDawgs

Hoptown Hoppers snatched the lead late in the game in a 4-2 victory over Owensboro RiverDawgs on Saturday. The game was tied at two with Hoptown Hoppers batting in the bottom of the fifth when Cody Hartness doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Owensboro RiverDawgs got on the board in the first inning. Shane Burns threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Owensboro RiverDawgs.

Burns pitched Hoptown Hoppers to victory. He allowed one hit and two runs over five innings, striking out six. Hassan Westbrook, Ethan Clark, and Trey Fields all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team toward victory. Westbrook recorded the last three outs to earn the save for the Hoptown Hoppers.

Tony Barrera took the loss for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He went four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and striking out five.
