Stephens Strong At The Plate As Owensboro RiverDawgs Defeats Madisonville Miners

Four hits from Kobe Stephens helped lead Owensboro RiverDawgs past Madisonville Miners 17-7 on Thursday. Stephens singled in the first, doubled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.

An early lead helped propel Owensboro RiverDawgs to victory. Owensboro RiverDawgs scored on a walk by Nick Sanders, a double by Stephens, a sacrifice fly by Danny Torres, and a single by Cam Curry in the second inning.

Owensboro RiverDawgs pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Sanders drew a walk, scoring one run, Stephens doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs, Torres's sac fly scored one run for Owensboro RiverDawgs, and Curry singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Owensboro RiverDawgs notched six runs in the sixth inning. Owensboro RiverDawgs's big inning was driven by walks by Stephens, Torres, Curry, and Bryce Walker, a home run by Jakob Shuler, and by Shuler.

Madisonville Miners scored three runs in the eighth inning. Madisonville Miners' batters contributing to the big inning included Cole Antle, George De La Fe, and Nate Chevalier, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Reece Calvert earned the win for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He surrendered four runs on six hits over six and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking zero. Bo Robison and Thomas Cessna entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Trevor Evans took the loss for Madisonville Miners. He went four and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on 11 hits and striking out two.

Owensboro RiverDawgs smacked one home run on the day. Shuler had a long ball in the sixth inning.
