Owensboro RiverDawgs's Strong Offense Not Enough To Secure Win Against Paducah Chiefs

Paducah Chiefs bested Owensboro RiverDawgs in a high-scoring affair, 18-7.

The Owensboro RiverDawgs struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Paducah Chiefs, giving up 18 runs.

Paducah Chiefs fired up the offense in the first inning. Paducah Chiefs scored one run when Nick Rucker singled.

Owensboro RiverDawgs knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the first inning, when Bailey Falkenstein homered on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs.

Paducah Chiefs pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Alan Roden doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run and Lofton Pigg singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Paducah Chiefs scored seven runs in the sixth inning. Paducah Chiefs's big inning was driven by doubles by Rucker and Roden, a walk by Ja'lil Akbar, a single by Bryson Bloomer, and a home run by Pigg.

Brady Austin earned the win for Paducah Chiefs. He surrendered six runs on ten hits over five and a third innings, striking out five and walking one. Mitch Turner threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Caleb Dubois took the loss for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He surrendered seven runs on nine hits over two and a third innings, walking one.

Owensboro RiverDawgs socked two home runs on the day. Falkenstein had a four bagger in the first inning. Ian Ellis had a long ball in the third inning.

Falkenstein led Owensboro RiverDawgs with three hits in four at bats.

Paducah Chiefs totaled 16 hits in the game. Roden, Pigg, Bloomer, and Rucker all managed multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Roden went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead Paducah Chiefs in hits. Paducah Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. James Dodd had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.
