Hoptown Hoppers Nabs Win Over Madisonville Miners Despite Early 4-Run Inning

Even though Hoptown Hoppers gave up four runs in the first inning, they still defeated Madisonville Miners 13-7 on Friday. Michael Sookdeo and Najay King each had RBIs in the big inning.

Both offenses were potent at the plate as Hoptown Hoppers collected 15 hits and Madisonville Miners 11 in the high-scoring affair

Madisonville Miners got things moving in the first inning when an error scored two runs for Madisonville Miners.

Hoptown Hoppers pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning. In the third Drew McGowan grounded out, scoring one run, Jacob Jenkins doubled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, Ben Huber singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Chandler Kendall singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, and Hoptown Hoppers scored one run on a stolen base.

Will Nash led the Hoptown Hoppers to victory on the mound. He lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and six runs while striking out three. Tyler Walton and Jenkins entered the game out of the bullpen and helped close the game in relief.

Eddie Rives took the loss for Madisonville Miners. He surrendered seven runs on five hits over three innings, striking out one.

Hoptown Hoppers totaled 15 hits. Micah Genter, Brant Husser, Kendall, Charlie Fischer, Hunter Evans, and Huber each racked up multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Genter went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits.

Madisonville Miners tallied 11 hits on the day. Alex Rodriguez, Ben Teel, and King all collected multiple hits for Madisonville Miners. Rodriguez led Madisonville Miners with three hits in four at-bats.
