Hoptown Hoppers Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Hoptown Hoppers watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 15-10 loss to Franklin Duelers on Friday. Franklin Duelers scored on a single by Jack Rando, a single by Joey Johnston, a double by Austin Ehren, and a sacrifice fly by Carter Vrable in the second inning.
Hoptown Hoppers collected 17 hits and Franklin Duelers had 13 in the high-scoring affair.
Franklin Duelers opened up scoring in the second inning, when Rando singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
Hoptown Hoppers put up four runs in the third inning. Riley Garczynski, Cam Thompson, Nicholas (Nico) Montes, and Zayd Brannigan all drove in runs in the frame.
Rylan Thomas was credited with the victory for Franklin Duelers. The hurler lasted three and a third innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out one and walking zero. Nate Cunningham threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Tyler McLaren took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. The righty went two innings, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out three.
Zach Sliger started the game for Franklin Duelers. The fireballer lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking one
