Hoptown Hoppers Defeats Resilient Fulton Railroaders

Fulton Railroaders's effort to come back from down five runs in the seventh inning came up just short, as they fell 8-6 to Hoptown Hoppers on Saturday. Fulton Railroaders scored three runs on a single in the seventh inning.

Fulton Railroaders couldn't keep up with Hoptown Hoppers early in the game. Hoptown Hoppers scored on a single by Jojo Cruz in the first inning, a single by Cam Thompson in the second inning, and a single by Jake Parr in the second inning.

Hoptown Hoppers pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning. In the second Thompson singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Parr singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Fulton Railroaders notched three runs in the seventh inning. Grant Davis had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.

Colby Downard got the win for Hoptown Hoppers. The lefty lasted six and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out six and walking one. Chase Gruno and Valek Cisneros entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Gruno recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.

Cody Medley took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. Medley allowed six hits and four runs over two and a third innings, striking out three.

Fulton Railroaders smacked two home runs on the day. Parker Estes went yard in the second inning. Britt Netterville had a long ball in the first inning.

Fulton Railroaders tallied nine hits on the day. Netterville, Estes, and Patrick Music each managed multiple hits for Fulton Railroaders. Netterville went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Fulton Railroaders in hits.

Hoptown Hoppers had 13 hits in the game. Alex Gonzales, Thompson, Cruz, and Benjamin (B.J.) Banyon all had multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers.
