On Tuesday, July 27^th, the Ohio Valley League announced the first-ever Gordon Guess Pitcher of the Year award recipient, Gavin Brauneker of the Henderson Flash. Both awards were voted by coaches around the league and a person of the media from each team. There were many worthy candidates for the Pitcher of the Year award around the league.

It's hard to argue against Brauneker being named for the award. He is currently leading the North first place Flash with a 1.90 ERA, which is third in the Ohio Valley League. Brauneker has 4 wins (tied for fourth in the league), 58 strikeouts (leads the league), and 1 save in 47.1 innings pitched.
