Paducah Chiefs Nabs Win Over Hoptown Hoppers Despite Early 4-Run Inning
Despite allowing four runs in the first inning, Paducah Chiefs defeated Hoptown Hoppers 8-6 on Wednesday. The big inning for Hoptown Hoppers came thanks to a triple by Arlon Butts and a single by Cam Thompson.
Paducah Chiefs collected 12 hits and Hoptown Hoppers had nine in the high-scoring affair.
In the first inning, Hoptown Hoppers got their offense started. Thompson drove in one when Thompson singled.
Paducah Chiefs pulled away for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Bryce Haas singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Ben Higdon drew a walk, scoring one run, Brant Brown singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, and an error scored one run for Paducah Chiefs.
Trent Hyde earned the win for Paducah Chiefs. The right-hander allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out seven. Jacob Brown threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Brown recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Paducah Chiefs.
Garrett Sagro took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. Sagro allowed five hits and six runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Paducah Chiefs tallied 12 hits. Brown, Mikey Mylott, and Higdon each collected multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Brown went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Paducah Chiefs in hits. Brown led Paducah Chiefs with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with six stolen bases.
Jojo Cruz led Hoptown Hoppers with two hits in five at bats.
