Madisonville Miners Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning To Defeat Dubois County Bombers

Madisonville Miners snatched the lead late in the game in a 2-1 victory over Dubois County Bombers on Friday. The game was tied at one with Madisonville Miners batting in the bottom of the fifth when Austin Baal singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Madisonville Miners pitchers struck out eight, while Dubois County Bombers pitchers sat down six.

Madisonville Miners got things started in the first inning when Kobe Jones hit a solo homer.

Dubois County Bombers evened things up at one in the top of the fourth inning. Dubois County Bombers scored one run when Andrew Kightlinger singled.

Slaide Naturman pitched Madisonville Miners to victory. The righty lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out one.

Grant Stratton took the loss for Dubois County Bombers. Stratton surrendered two runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out four.

Will Kiesel started the game for Madisonville Miners. The lefthander lasted four and a third innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out seven

Madisonville Miners smacked one home run on the day. Jones went yard in the first inning.

James Basham went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Madisonville Miners in hits. Madisonville Miners didn't commit a single error in the field. Basham had eight chances in the field, the most on the team.

Terrick Thompson led Dubois County Bombers with two hits in four at-bats.
