Paducah Chiefs Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory
Clarksville WhirlyBirdz watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 9-2 loss to Paducah Chiefs on Tuesday. Paducah Chiefs scored on a single by Ben Brombaugh in the first inning and a groundout by Will Gibbs in the second inning.
The Clarksville WhirlyBirdz struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Paducah Chiefs, giving up nine runs.
Paducah Chiefs opened up scoring in the first inning, when Brombaugh singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run.
Paducah Chiefs scored four runs in the ninth inning. Paducah Chiefs's big inning was driven by walks by Nathan Lang and Andrew Burns, a single by Gunnar Bingham, and by Gage Griggs.
Jack Bell led things off on the mound for Paducah Chiefs. The fireballer went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out four and walking one.
Chipper Harris was on the hill for Clarksville WhirlyBirdz. The bulldog went five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out seven. Jay Watson and Cooper Hargrove entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three and a third innings and two-thirds of an inning respectively.
Gabe Sibert led Clarksville WhirlyBirdz with two hits in four at bats. Clarksville WhirlyBirdz was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Heath Owen had the most chances in the field with 12.
Paducah Chiefs tallied nine hits in the game. Griggs, Bingham, and Brombaugh all managed multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Griggs went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Paducah Chiefs in hits.
