Miners Down Railroaders 10-5 at Elmer Kelley Stadium
The Madisonville Miners got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Silas Jones induced Fred Fernandez to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, and Logan Parker doubled, scoring two runs.
Madisonville Miners added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning on two hits. Payton Stephenson hit a solo home run to center field, and Jace Parnin grounded out, scoring two runs.
Fulton Railroaders scored one run in the top of the third on a solo home run to center field by Cole Sims.
Oliver Clark homered to right field, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third for the Madisonville Miners.
Kaden Heatherly began the game for Madisonville Miners. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out 10 and walking three. Jones started on the hill for Fulton Railroaders. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and nine runs (six earned) over two innings, striking out four and walking three. Tait Lakin, Jacob Claiborne, and Ethan Barrett each came on in relief for Madisonville Miners and shutdown Fulton Railroaders.
Clark led Madisonville Miners with three runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. They went 1-for-4 on the day. Brayden Taylor went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Madisonville Miners in hits. Taylor paced Madisonville Miners with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting eight walks for the game. Taylor stole two bases. Madisonville Miners ran wild on the base paths, collecting six stolen bases for the game. Madisonville Miners were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Parker made the most plays with 15.
Fulton Railroaders amassed nine hits in the game. Daniel Irizarry provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Fulton Railroaders with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Sims and Charlie Ferbet each collected two hits for Fulton Railroaders. Fulton Railroaders didn't commit a single error in the field. Andres Aybar had the most chances in the field with 11.
Next up for Madisonville Miners is a game at Hoptown Hoppers on Sunday, with the Railroaders traveling to Henderson to face the Flash. Both games get underway at 6:00pm CDT.
