Hoptown Hoppers Secure 9-6 Win Against Fulton Railroaders
Hoptown Hoppers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Brayden Eftink doubled, scoring two runs, and Evan Cardwell hit into a double play, but one run scored.
Fulton Railroaders scored one run in the bottom of the first on a solo home run to right field by Charlie Ferbet.
Hoptown Hoppers added one run in the second after Grant Snider singled.
A single by Cole Sims gave Fulton Railroaders the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth.
Hoptown Hoppers took the lead, 7-5, in the top of the fifth thanks to singles by Ruben Ogando, and Esteban Sepulveda.
Eftink stepped on the mound first for Hoptown Hoppers. The starting pitcher allowed 12 hits and six runs over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Rhett Edwards started on the mound for Fulton Railroaders. The right-handed pitcher allowed eight hits and seven runs (six earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking three. Reid Gongwer, Sam Patrick, and Payton Armour each came on in relief for Hoptown Hoppers and shutdown Fulton Railroaders.
Hoptown Hoppers accumulated 10 hits in the game. Kolby Webb led Hoptown Hoppers with three hits in five at bats. Eftink, Webb, and Sepulveda each drove in two runs for Hoptown Hoppers. Hoptown Hoppers didn't commit a single error in the field. Sepulveda had the most chances in the field with nine.
Fulton Railroaders accumulated 14 hits in the game. Sims and Ferbet were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Fulton Railroaders. Jonathon Walsh, Mason Cook, and Garrett Taylor each collected multiple hits for Fulton Railroaders. Fulton Railroaders turned one double play in the game.
Hoptown Hoppers play at home on Saturday against Henderson Flash in their next game, and the Railroaders travel to Paducah to face the Chiefs.
