Miners Take Down Railroaders 14-11 in Fulton
Bats were blistered as Madisonville Miners outshone Fulton Railroaders 14-11 on Sunday. Madisonville Miners collected 16 hits, while Fulton Railroaders had 13.
Madisonville Miners got on the board in the top of the first inning after Brayden Taylor hit a sacrifice fly, and Payton Stephenson singled, each scoring one run.
Fulton Railroaders took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the first thanks to singles by Charlie Ferbet, Garrett Taylor, and Jonathon Walsh.
Madisonville Miners flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring seven runs on seven hits to take a 9-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Fred Fernandez that drove in three.
Cade Spaulding doubled, which helped Fulton Railroaders tie the game at nine in the bottom of the fifth.
A double by Carson Cochran gave Fulton Railroaders the lead, 10-9, in the bottom of the sixth.
Madisonville Miners flipped the game on its head in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs on zero hits to take a 14-11 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was an error that drove in two.
Joel Connors started the game for Madisonville Miners. The right-handed pitcher gave up nine hits and nine runs (eight earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking three. Mitt Landers started the game for Fulton Railroaders. The starting pitcher allowed 11 hits and nine runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Jace Parnin appeared in relief for Madisonville Miners.
Madisonville Miners collected 16 hits in the game. Preston Bedford and Parnin were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for Madisonville Miners. Parker Mathis and Fernandez each drove in three runs for Madisonville Miners. Mason Pangborn and Stephenson each collected multiple hits for Madisonville Miners. Madisonville Miners had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 10 walks for the game. Brady Cooper and Fernandez led the team with two bases on balls each.
Fulton Railroaders accumulated 13 hits in the game. Number eight hitter, Walsh, showed the depth of Fulton Railroaders's lineup, by leading them with three hits in five at bats. Alejandro Quiles, Ferbet, and Cochran each collected multiple hits for Fulton Railroaders. Fulton Railroaders turned three double plays in the game.
