Bottom Of The Lineup Carries Miners Past Chiefs 6-2
The bottom of the lineup helped Madisonville Miners capture a 6-2 victory over Paducah Chiefs on Wednesday at Elmer Kelley Stadium. Pete Britton, Cason Troutman, and Mason Pangborn combined for six of the team's 12 hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in three.
Paducah Chiefs got on the board in the top of the first inning after David Limbach doubled, and Brady Grabowski singled, each scoring one run.
Brady Cooper homered to center field, which helped Madisonville Miners tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.
Madisonville Miners took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Oliver Clark hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, to give Madisonville Miners the leg up, 3-2.
Madisonville Miners scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a home run to center field by Pangborn.
Holden Groher earned the win for Madisonville Miners. The righty allowed four hits and two runs over six innings, striking out four and walking three. Klayton Wright took the loss for Paducah Chiefs. The reliever went one and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out none and walking two. Konner Myatt started on the hill for Paducah Chiefs. The righty allowed six hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Gabriel Eddington, Mason Wargel, and Joshua Martini each came on in relief for Madisonville Miners and shutdown Paducah Chiefs.
Madisonville Miners collected 12 hits in the game. Pangborn led Madisonville Miners with two runs batted in from the number eight spot in the lineup. They went 2-for-3 on the day. Number nine hitter, Troutman, showed the depth of Madisonville Miners's lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Kaden Ray collected two hits for Madisonville Miners in four at bats. Madisonville Miners didn't commit a single error in the field. Ray had the most chances in the field with nine.
Limbach and Grabowski were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Paducah Chiefs. Paducah Chiefs had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Paducah Chiefs turned two double plays in the game. Paducah Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. Danny Rollins had the most chances in the field with nine.
