Hoppers Take Down Chiefs 3-1 in Hoptown

Both teams were strong on the bump on Sunday, but Hoptown Hoppers defeated Paducah Chiefs 3-1. Payton Armour started the game for Hoptown Hoppers and recorded 15 outs.

Hoptown Hoppers didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the eighth when Harrison Waxley tripled, scoring two runs.

Paducah Chiefs were the first to get on the board in the fourth when David Limbach singled, scoring one run.

Waxley grounded out, which helped Hoptown Hoppers tie the game at one in the bottom of the sixth.

Armour opened the game for Hoptown Hoppers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and one run over five innings, striking out six and walking none. Joe Peca began the game for Paducah Chiefs. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and one run over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking three. Easton Barnett, Dalton Sisson, and Waxley each threw shutout innings for Hoptown Hoppers in relief.

Waxley provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hoptown Hoppers with three runs batted in. They went 1-for-4 on the day. Braden Pingel, Dom Davis, Waxley, and Kolby Webb each collected one hit for Hoptown Hoppers. Hoptown Hoppers didn't commit a single error in the field. Webb had the most chances in the field with 10.

Limbach led Paducah Chiefs with one run batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Limbach and Brady Grabowski each collected one hit for Paducah Chiefs. Paducah Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. Luke Dymond had the most chances in the field with seven.

Next up for Hoptown Hoppers is a game at Fulton Railroaders on Monday, and the Chiefs visit Madisonville to take on the Miners.
