Bats Show Up In Madisonville Miners Win 9-8 Against Paducah Chiefs
There were runs aplenty on Monday at Elmer Kelley Stadium, as Madisonville Miners outshone Paducah Chiefs 9-8. Madisonville Miners collected 12 hits, while Paducah Chiefs had eight.
Madisonville Miners didn't take the lead until later in the game. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the sixth when Brayden Taylor doubled, scoring one run.
Paducah Chiefs opened the scoring in the first after Kyle Hayes doubled, scoring two runs.
Madisonville Miners tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a ground out by Mason Pangborn, and a single by Kaden Ray.
In the top of the third inning, Paducah Chiefs went back into the lead after Parker Price grounded out, Hayes singled, and Madisonville Miners committed an error, each scoring one run.
Jace Parnin doubled, which helped Madisonville Miners tie the game at five in the bottom of the fourth.
In the top of the fifth, Paducah Chiefs broke up the tie when Ben Brombaugh doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Colin McClure followed to extend the lead to 8-5.
Madisonville Miners took the lead, 9-8, in the bottom of the sixth thanks to doubles by Nazhir Bergen, and Taylor.
Corbin Gillentine stepped on the bump first for Madisonville Miners. They gave up six hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Max Vosters led things off on the mound for Paducah Chiefs. The starting pitcher allowed nine hits and seven runs (six earned) over five innings, striking out one and walking three. Jacob Claiborne and Zakary Rasener each threw shutout innings for Madisonville Miners in relief.
