Jake Vitale Shows Power In Fulton Railroaders 7-5 Loss To Hoptown Hoppers

Jake Vitale hit two home runs and drove in three, but Fulton Railroaders lost to Hoptown Hoppers 7-5 on Monday. Vitale homered in the first and fifth innings.

Fulton Railroaders lost despite out-hitting Hoptown Hoppers eight to seven. Vitale led Fulton Railroaders with three hits.

Fulton Railroaders opened the scoring in the first after Vitale hit a solo home run to center field.

Fulton Railroaders added one run in the second after Vitale singled.

Evan Cardwell grounded out, which helped Hoptown Hoppers tie the game at two in the top of the fourth.

Hoptown Hoppers took the lead in the top of the fifth. An error scored one run, to give Hoptown Hoppers the leg up, 3-2.

Vitale homered to right field on an 0-2 count, which helped Fulton Railroaders tie the game at three in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Fulton Railroaders went back into the lead after Garrett Taylor doubled, and Dom Maldet singled, each scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers jumped back into the lead in the top of the eighth inning after Sam Perkins singled, Esteban Sepulveda walked, Brayden Eftink was struck by a pitch, and Max Martin walked, each scoring one run.

Harrison Waxley earned the win for Hoptown Hoppers. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none. Erich Radzinski took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. The reliever went three and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (zero earned) on four hits, striking out five and walking two. Kanon Lewis led things off on the hill for Fulton Railroaders. The starting pitcher gave up three hits and three runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking one. Jordan Gonzalez stepped on the mound first for Hoptown Hoppers. They gave up five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five and walking three. Sam Patrick earned the save.

Colton Lovelace and Grant Snider each collected two hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Eftink, Perkins, Sepulveda, Cardwell, and Martin each drove in one run for Hoptown Hoppers. Lovelace stole two bases. Hoptown Hoppers ran wild on the base paths, collecting four stolen bases for the game. Hoptown Hoppers didn't commit a single error in the field. Sepulveda had the most chances in the field with 10.
