Dom Maldet Has Lots Of Hits But Fulton Railroaders Fall To Madisonville Miners

Doubleheader Game 2

Dom Maldet collected three hits in three at bats, but Fulton Railroaders lost to Madisonville Miners 11-7 on Tuesday. Maldet hit a home run to right field in the fifth inning, singled in the seventh inning, and singled in the second inning.

Madisonville Miners jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Nazhir Bergen singled, scoring one run, and Mason Pangborn doubled, scoring two runs.

A single by Pete Britton extended the Madisonville Miners lead to 4-0 in the top of the second inning.

Fulton Railroaders tied the game in the bottom of the second thanks to a ground out by Jonathon Walsh, a single by Drake DeFreitas, a walk by Mason Cook, and a sacrifice fly by Logan Croley.

Madisonville Miners took the lead in the top of the fourth. Bergen hit a solo home run to right field, to give Madisonville Miners the edge, 5-4.

Madisonville Miners scored five runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning. Britton singled, scoring one run, and Fred Fernandez hit a grand slam to right field.

Fulton Railroaders scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to right field by Maldet on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

Mason Wargel earned the win for Madisonville Miners. The reliever surrendered zero hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Gary Baker took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. The reliever went one inning, allowing five runs on two hits, striking out none and walking two. Brady Gardner started the game for Fulton Railroaders. The left-handed pitcher surrendered six hits and five runs (three earned) over four innings, striking out six and walking three. Landon Cline stepped on the bump first for Madisonville Miners. The righty surrendered two hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking five. Parker Mathis earned the save.

Croley paced Fulton Railroaders with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating nine walks for the game.

Madisonville Miners accumulated nine hits in the game. Fernandez provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Madisonville Miners with four runs batted in. The first baseman went 2-for-5 on the day. Fernandez, Britton, and Bergen each collected two hits for Madisonville Miners. Madisonville Miners had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Amir Bergen and Jace Parnin led the team with two free passes each. Reid Harvey stole three bases. Madisonville Miners ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game. Madisonville Miners turned one double play in the game.
