CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES GAME ONE: Fourth-Inning Spurt Lead Henderson Flash Past Fulton Railroaders
Henderson Flash defeated Fulton Railroaders 11-2 on Friday at 2011 North Elm Street thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning. Kanon Lewis induced Crawford Courville to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Dane DeWees singled, scoring one run, Logan Lacey drew a walk, scoring one run, and Ellis Hurt doubled, scoring three runs.
Henderson Flash got on the board in the second inning after Colton Evans grounded out, scoring one run.
Garner Anderson homered to left field, which helped Fulton Railroaders tie the game at one in the top of the third.
A single by Charlie Ferbet gave Fulton Railroaders the lead, 2-1, in the top of the fourth.
Evan Bloomer earned the win for Henderson Flash. They surrendered two hits and zero runs over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Lewis took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering seven runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking four. J.D. Willis stepped on the mound first for Henderson Flash. The lefty allowed four hits and two runs over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking none. Cooper Chinn threw two and one-third innings of scoreless ball for Henderson Flash in relief. The lefty allowed one hit, striking out one and walking one.
Henderson Flash amassed 11 hits in the game. Hurt, Aidan Mouton, Evans, and Tyson LeBlanc each collected two hits for Henderson Flash. Lacey and Hurt were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs for Henderson Flash. Lacey led Henderson Flash with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Lacey and Hurt each stole multiple bases for Henderson Flash. Henderson Flash stole six bases in the game. Henderson Flash turned one double play in the game. Henderson Flash were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Evans made the most plays with 10.
Dom Maldet went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Fulton Railroaders in hits. Ferbet and Anderson each drove in one run for Fulton Railroaders.
