Fulton Railroaders Grabs Lead Late For Victory Over Paducah Chiefs

Fulton Railroaders defeated Paducah Chiefs 14-12 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at 12 in the top of the twelfth when an error scored two runs. Both teams had their chances in the game, but eventually Fulton Railroaders took the lead thanks to an error in the twelfth inning.

Paducah Chiefs opened the scoring in the second after Nate Lang singled, scoring two runs. Paducah Chiefs added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning when Brayden Baker doubled, scoring one run, Lang drew a walk, scoring one run, and Noah Wagster doubled, scoring two runs. 

Fulton Railroaders tied the game in the top of the sixth thanks to a triple by Owen Sullivan, and a double by AJ Armstrong. Fulton Railroaders took the lead in the top of the seventh. Caleb Warren grounded out, scoring one run, to give Fulton Railroaders the upper hand, 7-6. Gunnar Bingham walked, which helped Paducah Chiefs tie the game at seven in the bottom of the seventh.

Paducah Chiefs took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. Easton Denning doubled, scoring one run, to give Paducah Chiefs the upper hand, 8-7. Warren singled to center field, which helped Fulton Railroaders tie the game at eight in the top of the ninth.

Fulton Railroaders took the lead in the top of the tenth inning after Matthew Rienhardt scored after tagging up, and Jacob Lott singled down the left field line, each scoring one run. Paducah Chiefs tied the game in the bottom of the tenth thanks to a single by Baker, and a walk by Kobe Watson. Fulton Railroaders jumped back into the lead in the top of the eleventh inning after Paducah Chiefs committed an error, and Rienhardt was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. Paducah Chiefs tied the game in the bottom of the eleventh thanks to a ground out by Carson Reed, and a single by John Bingham.

Blake Althuisius pitched five innings in relief for Fulton Railroaders. The hurler surrendered four hits and five runs while, striking out eight and walking seven. Wade Sabo started on the bump for Fulton Railroaders. The starter allowed two hits and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Connor Priesel started on the mound for Paducah Chiefs. The hurler allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking three.

Fulton Railroaders piled up 12 hits in the game. Armstrong, Sullivan, and Chris Henson each collected two hits for Fulton Railroaders. Armstrong and Rienhardt were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for Fulton Railroaders. Sullivan led Fulton Railroaders with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.

Paducah Chiefs amassed 11 hits in the game. Lang led Paducah Chiefs with three runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 1-for-5 on the day. Bingham, Denning, and Baker each collected two hits for Paducah Chiefs. Paducah Chiefs had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 16 walks for the game. Watson and Denning led the team with three bases on balls each.
