Owensboro RiverDawgs Clinches Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Hoptown Hoppers

Owensboro RiverDawgs stole the lead late and defeated Hoptown Hoppers 16-14 on Wednesday. The game was tied at 14 with Owensboro RiverDawgs batting in the bottom of the eighth when EJ Clark singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Owensboro RiverDawgs was boosted by Daaelin Adderley who went 4-for-4 at the plate. Adderley singled in the third, singled in the fifth, doubled in the sixth, and singled in the eighth.

Hoptown Hoppers captured the lead in the second inning. Sean Sullivan drove in two when Sullivan homered.

After Hoptown Hoppers scored one run in the top of the fifth, Owensboro RiverDawgs answered with one of their own. Hoptown Hoppers scored when Ronald Brown singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run. Owensboro RiverDawgs then answered when Adderley singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers scored six runs in the second inning. The big inning for Hoptown Hoppers came thanks to a single by Joshua Rodriguez, a sacrifice fly by Jacob Dupps, a home run by Sullivan, and a double by Ren Tachioka.

Daylin Crabtree took the win for Owensboro RiverDawgs. The pitcher went one and one-third innings, allowing one run on four hits, striking out two, and walking one. Preston Franey, Dereck McCarly, and Brayden Mundy all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. McCarly recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Owensboro RiverDawgs.

Luke Genier started the game for Hoptown Hoppers. The righty went one and one-third innings, allowing four runs on one hit and striking out three. Jacob Dilday, Chase Harlan, Cody Hupp, and Dylan Brown each entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings, one and two-thirds innings, one inning, and two-thirds of an inning respectively.

Hoptown Hoppers totaled 18 hits in the game. Rodriguez, Tachioka, Sullivan, Greg Lile II, Luis Vergara-Schoonewolf, and Brown each managed multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers.
