Madisonville Miners fought back after falling down by four runs in the eighth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 6-5 defeat to Owensboro RiverDawgs on Friday. Madisonville Miners scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Gavin Kriegel and a single by Evan Liddie.

Madisonville Miners lost despite out-hitting Owensboro RiverDawgs ten to nine.

Madisonville Miners evened things up at one in the bottom of the third inning. Liddie singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Owensboro RiverDawgs pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Cam Nichols hit a solo homer and Logan Bland doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Madisonville Miners put up four runs in the ninth inning. The offensive onslaught by Madisonville Miners was led by Kriegel and Liddie, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Preston Cottrell earned the win for Owensboro RiverDawgs. The fireballer allowed six hits and one run over six and a third innings, striking out seven and walking one. Payton Addkisson and Myles Beale entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Jake O'Connell took the loss for Madisonville Miners. The righty surrendered four runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

Madisonville Miners tallied ten hits on the day. Kobe Jones and Liddie all managed multiple hits for Madisonville Miners. Liddie and Jones all had two hits to lead Madisonville Miners.

Owensboro RiverDawgs totaled nine hits. Nichols and Bland each collected multiple hits for Owensboro RiverDawgs.
